Thanking everyone all the time

I know he’s a seminarian and yet I’ve known him for so long I really can’t picture my friend Jamie walking around as a seminarian. I just picture him as Jamie who rides bikes and reads books about eastern religion. That’s one reason why I’m glad he’s blogging; I can begin to see people in seminary as cool, nice people and not otherwordly beings with a special, scary, powerful link to the powers-that-be. (It’s the recovering Roman Catholic in me. I can’t be helped.) I am especially heartened to learn that even beings with a special link to the powers-that-be can get ripped off by mechanics. Or at least feel like they are getting ripped off by mechanics.

P.S. I love the mental image of all the thank-you notes from seminarians adorning the mechanic’s office. That kills me.
